Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Previous editions: Hazenbos 2003: 45-46.

Whether this fragment is to be classified as a cult inventory is uncertain. If so, it features an exceptional case, since it contains a celebratory preamble of Tudḫaliya IV, apparently related to Ḫattušili’s alleged “recapture” of Nerik and the subsequent measures of cult restoration (Cammarosano 2013: 72; for related texts and propaganda see Cammarosano 2018: 332-34 with literature).
